While energy is often the centerpiece of ESG efforts, indoor environmental quality is just as critical, especially in smart offices designed for productivity and well-being. At Hoyo Tech, we see environmental monitoring not as an optional layer but as a foundational element of a healthy, intelligent workspace.

In our Skopje and Struga offices, we’ve implemented a network of IoT sensors and automation rules to measure, maintain, and improve indoor environmental quality, with Genera AI acting as the decision-making brain behind it all.

🌬️ Monitoring What Matters – Air, Water, and Light

🏢 Air Quality (AQI, CO₂, VOCs, Humidity)

  • Sensors Used: 
    ➡️ Aqara, BlueAir, Xiaomi
  • Metrics Tracked:
    ➡️ CO₂ levels in ppm
    ➡️ VOCs (volatile organic compounds)
    ➡️ PM2.5 particle matter
    ➡️ Temperature and humidity by room
  • Automation Logic:
    ➡️ If CO₂ > 900ppm → trigger ventilation (window actuator or HVAC + Alexa Announcement)
    ➡️ If PM2.5 > 10μg/m³ → send air purifier notification and start BlueAir Purifier
    ➡️ If humidity < 30% or > 70% → adjust HVAC and alert facilities

💡 Lighting & Lux Levels

  • Sensors Used: 
    ➡️ Shelly Door Sensors + Lux, Zigbee lux sensors
  • Metrics Tracked:
    ➡️ Natural vs. artificial light balance
    ➡️ Brightness per workstation
  • Automation Logic:
    ➡️ Adjust LED light intensity based on sunlight penetration
    ➡️ Ensure minimum lux thresholds for working conditions (≥ 100 lux)
    ➡️ Reduce lighting levels in unused zones to save energy

💧 Water Monitoring (Smart Irrigation)

  • In Struga, smart water probes and soil moisture sensors manage outdoor irrigation.
  • Weather-based logic controls schedules:
    ➡️ If soil moisture > 60% or rain forecast is > 40% → delay watering cycle
    ➡️ If moisture < 30% → activate irrigation with real-time valve feedback

🧠 AI Meets Environment – Genera’s Role in Environmental Comfort

Genera takes raw data from dozens of sensors and applies contextual logic:

  • Maps comfort zones by combining air, temperature, light, and motion data
  • Detects anomalies (e.g., a cold meeting room, or stale air in enclosed offices)
  • Prioritizes energy efficiency without compromising comfort
  • Uses feedback loops — if an employee adjusts a setting manually, it learns and adapts
